Serial Imo State governorship aspirant, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume has said by the special grace of God, he will be the next Imo State Governor of the state.

Ararume who won the PDP primaries in 2007 to become candidate for governor of Imo State. The party chose to run Engineer Charles Ugwu in his place. Ararume protested this decision and secured a Supreme Court ruling in his favor. The party expelled him and chose not to field a candidate, leaving the field open for Ikedi Ohakim of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) Araraume represented Imo North Senatorial Zone from 1999- 2007.

Speaking at Ihitte Uboma during a stakeholders meeting of the All Progressive Congress, APC held at the instance of Senator Benjamin Uwajumuogu, the senator said there is no going back on his ambition.

Araraume maintained that the people of his Okigwe zone will not beg for the governorship of the state, saying they will not aspire for the position of Deputy Governor of the state either. He said with the special grace of God, nothing will stop him from being elected as Imo State Governor in 2019.

Araraume is known to have fallen out with Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha over the APC governorship ticket in Imo State.

The Governor has been rumoured to be favouring his son and Chief of Staff,, Uche Nwosu as his successor. a development which has not gone down well with the senator and a section of some politicians in the APC in the state.
