As the heat for 2019 election gathers momentum and the battle for the Federal House of Representative, Ika Federal Constituency becomes tense and seemingly interesting, some political and public holders vying for the post have of late beginning to dump their portfolios to enable them contest for the all-important race.
On Wednesday, 25th July, 2018, Mr. Philip Okwuada, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Livestock Development announced his resignation.
According to him, he has with his resignation complied with the PDP directive/timetable/requirement for him to fully run for the House of Representatives race.
He said he submitted to the Government, detailed comprehensive report on his stewardship within the short period the appointment lasted. He stated that he was particularly thrilled by His Excellency’s great determination to diversify the economy, develop Agriculture, attract both local and foreign investors, create jobs, train and empower the youths through modern Agriculture, improve the income of existing local farmers through the provision of extension services, improve seed varieties and other farm inputs, enabling policies and peaceful environment for massive Agricultural expansion and growth.
This is all in the Governor’s effort to ensure food security, create jobs engage every able bodied man and woman in productive ventures, reducing idleness, militancy, kidnapping and other social vices leading to cumulative resultant peaceful environment for business and Economic activities to thrive and huge state Gross Domestic Product.
“I will use my wealth of local, national and international experience and connection to bring about good representation, focused industrialization, productivity based development and massive youth engagement based empowerment. I assure you that the voice of Ika nation will be heard at the National Assembly”, he stated.
He thanked Governor Okowa for the opportunity given him to serve in his cabinet, declaring that he is fully committed to the success of the governor in office and also his re-election in 2019. While applauding the governor for his landmark achievements in just three years in office, he appealed to all Deltans to come out en-masse to support the re-election bid of Governor Okowa.
He promised to render selfless and quality representation to the people of Ika Federal Constituency if given the mandate to serve them at the lower house of the National Assembly.
